Jack Walker shares his excitement about joining Sheffield Eagles after a challenging year at Hull FC, eager to embrace a fresh start.
Sheffield: Jack Walker is feeling optimistic about his future after a pretty chaotic year at Hull FC. The 25-year-old just signed a rolling-month contract with Sheffield Eagles. He left Hull FC last November, along with Liam Tindall and Morgan Smith, who also joined the Eagles.
Since then, Walker has been on the hunt for a new club. He scored seven tries in 20 games for Hull, but this pre-season, he’s been training solo. Now, he’s finally got a deal with the Eagles, who finished 7th in the Championship last year and are coached by Craig Lingard.
Walker had a couple of options, including talks with another club, rumored to be the Midlands Hurricanes. But he felt the Eagles were the right fit for him, especially since he has some experience in the second tier with Bradford Bulls.
Chatting about his move, Walker said he had a great meeting with Craig over coffee. He’s excited to put his best foot forward. He mentioned that things were a bit all over the place with coaches at Hull last year, so he’s looking forward to working with someone stable. He loves Craig’s coaching style, which fits his game perfectly.
He also shared that training alone for twelve weeks was tough, not knowing what was next. But once Craig reached out, he felt good about the choice. Walker is eager to compete with a top-four team and enjoyed his first training session with the squad.
Sheffield is gearing up to face West Bowling in the Challenge Cup this weekend, and Walker is ready to tackle the upcoming season. He plans to take it game by game, bringing his energy and a winning mindset to the team. He’s excited about the group of lads he’s joining, and they all share the same competitive spirit.
