Galway: Irish drivers are being asked to get on board with some new changes to driving licenses. The digital driving license is coming, but it’s a bit delayed and won’t roll out until 2025.

This new license will be part of a digital wallet you can keep on your phone. It’s pretty cool because it’ll hold your birth certificate, driver’s license, and even your marriage certificate.

The government had been testing this with civil servants since early 2024, but they hit a snag when they realized it wasn’t working well for drivers with additional needs.

Once it’s up and running, you’ll be able to show your digital license to the gardaí, which means you can leave your physical card at home. Just a heads up, though—if you don’t have your license when asked, you’ll need to show it at a Garda station within ten days.

On another note, the Road Safety Authority is warning everyone to be careful on the roads due to Storm Eowyn. They’ve issued some serious weather warnings, saying this storm is not your average bad weather.

So, if you can avoid traveling during the storm, it’s best to stay put. The winds are expected to be really strong, and there could be fallen trees and power lines. Just stay safe and keep an eye on the weather updates!
