A double murderer attacked Urfan Sharif in prison, leaving him injured on New Year’s Day
Croydon: So, there’s this wild story about a guy named Steven Sansom. He’s a convicted murderer who really did a number on a woman’s body and left it in a park. And guess what? He’s the one who attacked Urfan Sharif, the father of Sara Sharif, in prison.
This all went down at HMP Belmarsh on New Year’s Day. Apparently, Sansom used a jagged tuna can lid to attack Sharif. He didn’t do it alone, though; another inmate helped him out. They cornered Sharif in his cell after he came back from a shower.
Last year, Sansom was found guilty of murdering Sarah Mayhew. He was 46 and had chopped her up with power tools, leaving her remains scattered in a field in Croydon. He also has a history of violence, having killed a taxi driver when he was just 19.
A source mentioned that everyone in prison is buzzing about how Sansom got to Sharif. They jumped him as he was walking back to his cell, forced him inside, and slashed him. The other inmate held the door shut. Talk about a brutal scene!
Just last month, Urfan Sharif was sentenced to at least 40 years for the murder of his daughter, Sara, along with his partner and brother. Poor Sara suffered so much before her tragic death in August 2023.
After Sara’s death, Urfan and his accomplices fled to Pakistan but later returned to the UK and were arrested. It’s a real mess, and the details are heartbreaking.
Sara was just a little girl, described as having a beautiful smile. She had 25 fractures and 71 injuries when she died. It’s just awful to think about.
As for Urfan, he got slashed in the prison attack but thankfully, his injuries weren’t life-threatening. Sansom had just gotten out of prison after serving time for another murder before he killed Mayhew last year.
It’s a crazy story, and it just goes to show how violent some people can be. Let’s hope justice is served for everyone involved.
