A surfer was evacuated from a Pembrokeshire beach after suffering an injury, prompting a swift response from local rescue teams.
Pembrokeshire: So, there was this surfer who got hurt on Boxing Day. It happened at Frainslake Beach, not too far from Freshwater West.
The Angle RNLI lifeboat got the call at 2:40 PM. They heard someone had a possible Achilles injury, and getting to the beach was tricky.
When the lifeboat arrived about 20 minutes later, the crew couldn’t get to the surfer right away because of the rough conditions.
Luckily, Coastguard Rescue Teams from Tenby and St Govan’s were already there. A local surfer even paddled out to the lifeboat to grab some pain meds for the injured guy.
An off-duty RNLI lifeguard was surfing nearby and helped out by giving the surfer some pain relief.
Once the surfer was taken care of, the coastguard teams managed to get him off the beach safely.
With everything under control, the lifeboat crew from Angle was stood down and headed back to base, ready for whatever came next by 4:30 PM.
