The East Hull MP contacted the Hull City Council leader about repairs planned for Drypool Bridge.

A report showed the bridge needs repair. The inspection happened in April 2024. Parts of the bridge were found to be failing fast.

The repairs could take six months.

The council picked Esh Construction Limited for the project. It will cost about £8 million. Work should happen from April to October.

Karl Turner has been Hull East’s MP since 2010. He wrote to Mike Ross, the council leader, because residents are worried about the bridge.

In his letter, Turner discussed traffic and safety. He wants to minimize disruptions during construction. Scale Lane Footbridge is currently closed. He asked about pedestrian safety during the Drypool Bridge work.

The council said the repairs will ensure the bridge for 25 years and that the updates should add 50 years of life. Turner asked for details on the long-term benefits and hopes the problems will not return.

Turner awaits Ross’s reply soon. He wants the bridge repairs to finish well and to ensure the bridge remains safe to use.
