Liam Hodgson dedicates his time to help vulnerable locals by clearing snow.
Huddersfield: Liam Hodgson really stepped up during the recent snowstorm. He spent over 12 hours yesterday clearing snow from paths and car parks, and guess what? He’s out there again today!
Liam took it upon himself to clear the way at Lindley Liberal Club, making sure local folks and the elderly could get out and about. He even swung by Lindley Grange care home, which is just around the corner, to help out there too. The staff brought him coffee to keep warm while he worked on the paths and car park.
This guy is a local hero, known for his boxing and security work in Huddersfield and Halifax. After getting a message about Overgate Hospice in Elland struggling with the snow, he rushed over to help. He cleared paths, the car park, and even an ambulance bay to ensure staff could get in safely. Plus, he helped dig out a few cars stuck in the snow.
By the time he finished, Liam was soaked and freezing, but he was determined to help the hospice because of a personal connection—his grandad passed away there. He shared, “They made him have such a peaceful send-off after suffering for so long.”
While shoveling, he was flooded with memories of pushing his grandad around the hospice garden, which made him even more motivated to do a good job. Liam wants to show young people that kindness doesn’t cost a thing, especially during tough times.
He said, “It’s important to check on the elderly or anyone vulnerable. You never know what someone’s going through.” He hopes his efforts inspire others to come together and make the community a happier and safer place.
Seeing the smiles on people’s faces when he finished made it all worth it for him. He’s planning to head back out today since more snow has fallen and people are reaching out for help.
Bupa’s Lindley Grange Care Home expressed their gratitude, saying, “What a generous man! He came and asked if he could help by clearing our path.”
Liam is a well-known figure in West Yorkshire, not just for his community work but also for his boxing and bare-knuckle fighting.
