A horse rider was rescued from Bodmin Moor after a serious fall, prompting a large search and rescue operation in challenging weather conditions
Cornwall: A horse rider had a rough day on Bodmin Moor. He took a nasty spill, and it turned into a big rescue operation. Emergency services rushed to the scene at Carneglos Tor on Saturday afternoon.
The East Cornwall Search and Rescue Team jumped into action. They shared how they worked alongside the Cornwall Air Ambulance to help the rider. There were whispers that an animal rights group linked the fall to a nearby hunt, which took place on Forestry England land close to Launceston.
The alert came in just after 2 PM. The rescue team reported that the rider was in and out of consciousness, dealing with some serious head, face, and back injuries. When they arrived, they found that other emergency services were already on the scene.
Because the weather was so bad, the South Western Ambulance Service sent out a bunch of resources. They included HART, the air ambulance, and local ambulance crews to make sure help got to the rider quickly.
As the rescue team got closer, they learned that the air ambulance crew had reached the rider safely, so they stood down. They’re hoping for a speedy recovery for him.
