A man has been sentenced to life in prison for a brutal attack on an innocent couple in Exeter, leaving them seriously injured
Exeter: A shocking incident unfolded in Exeter when a man named Leon Telemacque attacked a couple waiting for a bus. He came out of nowhere and tried to stab them with a large knife.
Telemacque, 31, approached the couple from behind and launched a brutal assault. CCTV footage showed him stabbing the 24-year-old man three times and the 23-year-old woman twice. It was a terrifying scene.
Witnesses heard the couple screaming as Telemacque chased the man down the street. Thankfully, some students nearby jumped in to help and followed him until the police arrived and arrested him.
In court, Telemacque admitted to two counts of attempted murder and was sentenced to life in prison. The judge made it clear that he poses a serious risk to the public and must serve at least 17 years before he can be considered for release.
The judge described the attack as unprovoked and noted that the male victim could have been killed if he hadn’t defended himself. It’s a chilling reminder of how quickly things can turn dangerous.
Detective Constable Sam Heys, who investigated the case, emphasized the randomness of the attack and the lasting impact it will have on the victims and witnesses. He hopes the sentence will help the victims find some closure.
