The Cross Keys Hotel in Llantrisant may soon be converted to offices
Llantrisant: It’s a bit of a sad time for the folks in Llantrisant. The Cross Keys Hotel, a beloved pub that’s been around since the 18th century, is on the chopping block. A planning application has been put in to turn it into offices, which has many locals feeling nostalgic.
This pub has been a staple since 1791, and it’s hard to imagine the town without it. The current tenants are set to leave on January 10, and then the new owners will take over. But the local council still needs to give the green light for the change.
The Cross Keys has a bar area, a kitchen, and even a function room upstairs. If the plans go through, all that charm will be replaced with office space. It’s a big shift for a place that’s been a gathering spot for so long.
The new owners, Town Garage (Rentals) LTD, are right next door. They’re looking to expand their business, but it’s tough to see a piece of history go. If you’ve got any memories of the pub or thoughts on the changes, they’d love to hear from you.
