A family of three was rescued after getting lost in the dark near Dovestone Reservoir, thanks to quick action from emergency teams.
Oldham: A family of three got lost while exploring the hills above Dovestone Reservoir. It was a chilly Saturday evening when they found themselves in a bit of a pickle.
Emergency services jumped into action. The Oldham Mountain Rescue Team, along with a police helicopter, worked hard for three hours to track them down. They used some nifty tech called ‘Phone Find’ to locate the family’s devices.
When the rescuers finally spotted them, the family was huddled together for warmth. It must have been quite a relief to see the rescue team waving them over!
A spokesperson from the rescue team shared that Greater Manchester Police had received a call about the lost trio. They quickly mobilized the team and vehicles to the area.
Thanks to the helicopter from the National Police Air Service, the family was found high up on the hillside. Once the rescuers reached them, they checked to make sure everyone was okay, though they were pretty cold.
The team provided them with extra clothing before guiding them back down. At the bottom, the North West Ambulance Service was waiting to check them over and help them warm up before heading home.
