Croydon: So, Hassan Sentamu has been found guilty of murder after he stabbed 15-year-old Elianne Andam. This all went down during a trial at the Old Bailey, and it took the jury a while to reach their decision.

Sentamu, who’s 18, admitted to stabbing Elianne back in September 2023. He claimed he didn’t mean to kill her and said his autism made him lose control. But the jury didn’t buy it.

He was supposed to be meeting up with his ex-girlfriend, who was friends with Elianne, to swap some stuff. But things got heated when Elianne grabbed a bag from him that had some personal letters in it. That’s when he snapped.

The prosecution painted a picture of him being really angry, especially after feeling humiliated by some girls the day before. They argued he had no reason to have a knife with him.

During the trial, two psychiatrists gave their opinions on whether his autism played a role in his actions. But the judge made it clear that one of them had to be wrong.

In the end, the jury had to decide if his actions were a result of his mental state or just plain rage. It’s a tragic situation all around, and it’s hard to believe something like this could happen.
