Grimsby: The Rumble Band is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. They have two special gigs planned that you won’t want to miss.

The band started in the Sixties but broke up for a while. They reunited thanks to Steve Jackson from the Grimsby Telegraph, who encouraged frontman Dave Ranshaw to perform at Live Aid in 1985.

That concert at the Winter Gardens in Cleethorpes launched their next 40 years of music. They’ve entertained thousands and played at countless venues since then.

On March 8, they’ll perform at Louth Town Hall to support local charities. Their second anniversary gig is on September 13 at The Beachcomber in Humberston.

Drummer Ray Wilson has been with the band for 19 years. The current lineup includes lead singer Allan Scorer and three backing singers. The brass section features talented musicians on trumpet, sax, and trombone.

Ray mentioned that while some members have changed over the years, the band has maintained its professional sound. They’ve played at famous venues like The Alexandra Palace and the Isle of Wight Festival.

The band is excited about their upcoming celebration tour and a big theatre tour planned for 2026. They’ll hold off on selling tickets for the Beachcomber gig until later in March, so fans can enjoy the Louth Town Hall show first.

Ray believes their long-lasting success comes from their love for soul music. The band enjoys performing together and focuses on having fun rather than making money.

Duncan, another band member, shared that the Beachcomber gig will feature the same set they played at Live Aid, plus some new additions. He noted that many young fans attend their shows, even if they weren’t born when the music first came out.

Duncan is looking forward to performing classic hits from artists like Sam and Dave and The Temptations. He appreciates the excitement of live performances and the challenge of touring with a large band.

Former frontman Dave Ranshaw recalled joining the band in 1967. He emphasized the band’s strong reputation and the quality of its musicians. He also remembered the nerves he felt preparing for the Live Aid set.

The Rumble Band has played at many venues, including hotels in London and local spots like The Winter Gardens. They’ve supported various charitable causes over the years, including the Louth & District Lions Club.

The Lions Club has been active since 1969, helping the community with projects like providing defibrillators and supporting local families. They’re excited to host the Rumble Band for this special anniversary.

Tickets for the upcoming gigs are available now. Don’t miss out on this chance to celebrate with the Rumble Band!
