Grimsby: So, there’s this amazing barrister named Noel Philo who just turned 90 on Christmas Day! Can you believe it? He’s been a regular at Grimsby Crown Court for ages and is now the oldest working barrister in the country.
Noel is such a friendly guy, always smiling and approachable. Recently, they threw him a surprise party to celebrate this big milestone. It was heartwarming to see everyone come together for him.
He’s known for his eloquent speech and has handled cases for both the prosecution and defense. Over the years, he’s been a great support to other barristers, always ready to lend a hand or share some wisdom.
At a recent gathering, Judge Simon Hirst, who used to work with Noel, praised him for his kindness and guidance when he was just starting out. It’s clear that Noel has made a lasting impact on many in the legal community.
Noel graduated from Oxford and has been in the legal game since 1975. He’s worked all over the country and is still going strong, taking on cases like knife attacks and drug offenses. He’s even been back at Lincoln Crown Court this year!
Born on Christmas Day in 1934, Noel has a lovely family with four kids and nine grandkids. His wife, Liz, is also in the legal field, serving as a deputy district judge. They make quite the duo!
