Exciting news for bus riders! Go North East is doubling its services in Sunderland and South Tyneside starting January 26
Starting January 26, you’ll see more buses on routes like the 61 and 62/A, running every 30 minutes between Pennywell and Grangetown. This means better connections to places like Sunderland Royal Hospital, which is a win for everyone.
The 63 service is also getting a boost, making it easier to travel between Grangetown and Sunderland Winter Garden. With the 61, 62, and 62A buses, you can expect a bus every seven to eight minutes during the day from Monday to Saturday.
If you’re heading to Sunderland city centre, the combined services will give you 14 buses per hour. Plus, if you’re coming from Ryhope Green, you’ll have a bus every seven to eight minutes with services 60 and 63.
In South Tyneside, things are looking up too. In Jarrow, buses will be running every 15 minutes on York Avenue with services 9, 25, and 35. There’s also a new service 36 connecting the Cotswolds Estate to Jarrow.
Fellgate is getting new links to Sunderland as well, thanks to changes to service 35 and the new service 36. Go North East is encouraging everyone to check out the new timetables on their app and website. They’re even hosting drop-in sessions at South Shields and Park Lane bus interchanges to help you out.
