A man has been charged after police found potentially dangerous items in a car on a busy Glasgow street, prompting a lockdown
Glasgow: A man got into some trouble after a traffic stop on a busy road. It happened on Friday evening, and things got a bit tense.
Police pulled over a car on Great Western Road around 6:30 PM. They found some items in the vehicle that raised alarms, so they decided to lock down the area just to be safe.
The 55-year-old man was charged with road traffic offences. Luckily, the items were checked out and deemed safe, so no one was in real danger.
Pictures from the scene showed the car parked with its doors and boot wide open, while police kept watch at both ends of the cordon.
Witnesses said the road was closed off completely, and no one could get close. Eventually, they reopened it for cars and pedestrians.
The man will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal, and police confirmed the situation was under control.
It’s always a bit unsettling when something like this happens, but thankfully, it turned out okay in the end.
