A local resident is urging the council to address a hazardous road filled with potholes to prevent potential accidents
Glasgow: A resident is sounding the alarm about a road in bad shape. Martin Monaghan, who lives in Cartyne, is worried about a dangerous pothole situation on Edinburgh Road.
He pointed out a hillock near a bus stop that could lead to serious accidents, especially with icy weather coming in. Martin fears that a bus could skid and crash into the stop, putting people at risk.
He’s been raising the issue lately, saying the road is falling apart and has a massive pothole right at the bus stop. It’s been a problem for years, and he thinks it’s time for the council to step in.
Martin explained that the hillock could cause buses to slide into the stop, especially when it’s icy. He’s really concerned that someone could get hurt if nothing changes.
He’s reached out to the council, stressing that the road hasn’t been gritted and is full of potholes. He believes it’s unsafe for buses to keep using that stop until repairs are made.
Martin isn’t sure how the hillock formed, but he feels the council has neglected Edinburgh Road over the years. He also thinks they aren’t spending enough on road maintenance.
A council spokeswoman responded, saying potholes can pop up due to various factors like traffic and weather. They have a system in place to inspect and repair roads, focusing on the most dangerous issues first.
She mentioned that they have crews working daily to fix potholes and that £12 million has been set aside for road resurfacing this year. They encourage residents to report any road problems directly for assessment.
