Glasgow: This weekend is going to be a bit of a hassle for rail passengers. There are strikes and engineering works causing disruptions.

On Saturday and Sunday, trains won’t be running directly between Glasgow Central and London Euston. Instead, you’ll have to take a bus from Carlisle to Preston.

Avanti West Coast is still running some services between Glasgow and Carlisle, but it’s not the most straightforward trip. If you’re heading to London, be prepared for some extra travel time.

TransPennine Express trains will also be affected. They’ll only run between Manchester Airport and Lancaster, with a separate service from Carlisle to Glasgow.

And don’t forget, there will be replacement buses running between Lancaster and Carlisle to help out.

On Sunday, things won’t get any better. The TransPennine services will only go as far as Preston from Manchester Airport, with another service from Carlisle to Glasgow.

Avanti West Coast is warning that their timetable will be “significantly reduced” due to strike action. They plan to run just four trains per hour to London Euston.

So, if you’re traveling on Sunday, it’s a good idea to check the schedule before you head out. Also, ScotRail services between Glasgow Queen Street and Alloa will be disrupted, with buses replacing trains.

Stay updated and safe travels!
