A major police operation in Glasgow leads to 46 arrests for drug and anti-social behaviour offences
Glasgow: Recently, the police have been busy cracking down on crime in the city. They arrested 20 folks for drug-related issues and dealing, which is part of a larger effort to clean up the streets.
This operation focused on areas like Bridge Street, Carlton Place, and St Enoch. In total, 46 people, aged 16 to 28, have been reported to the Procurator Fiscal. It’s a big deal, and it all happened between September 27 and November 20.
Now, these suspects can’t enter Carlton Place, Bridge Street, or the nearby areas since they’ve been added to the exclusion zone. Plus, there’s still a strong police presence in the neighborhood to keep things in check.
There have been concerns about teens being pushed into selling drugs, and some fake delivery workers were acting as lookout spots. It’s a tough situation for the community.
Local councillor Soryia Siddique is pretty pleased with the updates from Police Scotland. She’s hopeful that with more teamwork and focus, the community can feel safer and see some positive changes.
A police spokesperson mentioned that from late September to mid-November, they tackled drug dealing and anti-social behaviour in those key areas. They’ve charged 20 people for drug offences and another 26 for various anti-social acts, including carrying weapons.
All those arrested for drug dealing will have to face court later, and they’ve got bail conditions that keep them out of the city centre. It’s a step towards making Glasgow a better place.
