A documentary on Glasgow crime faced an unsettling interruption when an attack occurred just off-camera, leaving witnesses in disbelief
Glasgow: While filming a documentary about crime experiences, an attack happened right off-camera, leaving an American tourist stunned. She was approached by filmmakers on Gordon Street, who asked if she had seen any crime.
Just as they were chatting, an assault occurred nearby. The police quickly apprehended the attacker, and once filming resumed, the woman shared her shock at witnessing such violence.
This documentary is part of the new series “True Crime Secrets” on the Crime+Investigation channel, where they explore real stories from people across UK cities about their encounters with crime.
The tourist, who had never seen a crime before coming to Scotland, expressed her feelings: “I just witnessed an assault on the sidewalk. It’s a little unnerving.”
She also mentioned seeing a shoplifting incident the day before, which added to her discomfort. Others interviewed shared their own harrowing stories of stabbings and muggings in Glasgow.
One man recounted a chilling experience of witnessing a “Glasgow smile” attack, describing how a young victim was left scarred. Another shared how he was robbed by two men pretending to be police officers, which was terrifying.
A former offender spoke about his past, revealing how he turned his life around after a robbery conviction. He was grateful for a second chance from the judge, which allowed him to change his path.
A spokesperson for the Crime+Investigation Channel highlighted their mission to gather genuine stories from the public about crime and misconduct. They aim to present real-life experiences and insights into how people perceive crime.
The Glasgow episodes of “True Crime Secrets” will be available on the channel’s social media starting January 19.
