A giant festive gritter named Goldie visited Rogerstone Primary School, bringing joy and education about road safety to the children during her 900-mile tour.
Goldie, decked out in a huge Christmas jumper and hat, is on a mission to spread festive cheer. She’s part of a 900-mile school tour organized by Econ Engineering, the folks who make winter maintenance vehicles.
During her visit, Goldie taught the kids about how gritters help keep roads safe during winter. The kids even got to join in on the fun by designing their own jumpers for Goldie!
This gritter isn’t just any vehicle; she was built to celebrate Econ’s 50th anniversary back in 2019 and is packed with the latest gritting tech. Goldie has been traveling around the country, not just training drivers but also inspiring kids about road safety.
Jonathan Lupton, the managing director at Econ, shared how proud they are to support community projects. He mentioned how Goldie’s festive outfit was a fun way to kick off the busy winter season.
Creating Goldie’s outfit was no small feat. It took 35 volunteers from the Ripon Community Poppy Project a whopping 4,500 hours to make it, using over 1,130 balls of wool. Talk about dedication!
