Gerwyn Price shares his ongoing health issues following his exit from the World Darts Championship, revealing a long-standing ear problem.
London: Gerwyn Price has opened up about a tough health issue he’s been battling for years. This comes right after he got knocked out of the PDC World Darts Championship.
The Welsh player, who took home the trophy in 2019, faced Chris Dobey in the quarter-finals at Alexandra Palace. Price was in a good spot, leading by two sets, but Dobey made a fantastic comeback to win, marking it as a highlight of his career.
After the match, Price shared that he’s been struggling with an ear problem that’s really bothering him. He mentioned that this issue has been around for years, but his busy schedule has made it hard to seek help.
He described the feeling, saying it’s like being in a swimming pool. It’s frustrating for him. He’s been on antibiotics for a week, but they haven’t helped much.
Price has dealt with this for about six to eight years now, and he’s gotten used to it. He’s supposed to see a specialist, but with his packed schedule, he often misses appointments. He ends up prioritizing tournaments over his health.
This year has been tough for Price. He even mentioned he was losing interest in darts and thought about skipping the Premier League Darts if he got invited. But he’s changed his mind, realizing he misses the game.
He shared on social media that taking some time off made him realize how bored he gets without darts. Now, he’s looking forward to getting back into it with a fresh mindset.
After Price’s exit, Dobey went on to face Michael van Gerwen but lost 6-1. Van Gerwen will now compete against the young star Luke Littler, who also won his match by the same score.
