London: I saw a headline today that really surprised me. It said, “Half of Gen Z want Britain ruled by a dictator.” I almost spilled my tea!

I thought, “Why not just move to North Korea? You’d be free from all those human rights.” I mean, send us a selfie of your new haircut while you’re at it!

The survey showed that over half of young people aged 13 to 27 prefer a dictator over a democratic government. A third even think the army should run the UK.

Sure, the current Prime Minister isn’t inspiring anyone, and neither were the last few. But wanting a strong leader is different from wanting a dictatorship.

These young folks aren’t just sitting around. While Millennials were busy with their avocado toast, Gen-Z was quietly planning a political shift. I think Minecraft might be to blame. It’s that game where kids build and destroy their own worlds.

Another concerning trend is that social media influencers are becoming more trusted than traditional journalists. One influencer, Andrew Tate, is facing serious legal issues but still has a strong following.

Why are young people so interested in a radical government? Did they skip history class?

The survey’s release coincided with the 80th anniversary of Auschwitz’s liberation. It reminds us how important it is to remember history and listen to Holocaust survivors.

As philosopher George Santayana said, “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.”

On a different note, a massive iceberg is heading toward an Antarctic island, reminding us of climate change’s impact. I do my part by using public transport and recycling, but is it enough? Probably not, but every little bit helps.

Elon Musk joked about renaming the English Channel to the George Washington Channel. Why stop there? Let’s rename everything to sound more American!

Fun fact: The Met Office has already named all the storms for this year. I can’t wait to hear how they pronounce Storm Naoise. It’s the little things that make me smile.
