Andrew Mackay, 64, was sentenced after raping a child who was unconscious from alcohol
Gateshead: A man named Andrew Mackay, 64, has been sentenced to 14 years in prison for a horrific crime. He raped a young girl who was unconscious after he gave her alcohol.
The girl woke up to find Mackay assaulting her. She clearly expressed her objections, but he dismissed her concerns, saying it wasn’t fair. Sadly, she lost consciousness again, only to wake up and find him still abusing her.
Mackay denied the charges but was found guilty of multiple offenses, including rape and sexual assault, at Newcastle Crown Court. During the sentencing, the victim shared how deeply this has affected her life. She mentioned feeling scared to leave her house alone and living in constant fear, especially knowing he was on bail.
She expressed her anger and sadness, saying she can’t look back on her teenage years as happy times anymore. The trauma has led her to self-harm and even attempt suicide. It’s been tough for her family to support her through this.
Prosecutor Nicoletta Alistari explained that Mackay had given the girl a significant amount of alcohol, leaving her defenseless. When she regained consciousness, he was still attacking her. He even threatened her to keep her from reporting the crime.
Mackay, who lived in High Spen, Gateshead, was found guilty of two counts of rape and other serious charges. Along with his prison sentence, he must register as a sex offender for life and will be under a sexual harm prevention order.
Judge Sarah Mallet highlighted how Mackay had provided the girl with so much alcohol that she couldn’t remember what happened next. Despite the evidence, he continues to deny his actions.
