In North Cork, Gardaí are stepping up to help residents stranded by heavy snow
North Cork: Gardaí have been super busy lately. Heavy snowfall has left many folks stuck at home, and it’s been a real challenge for the community.
This area got hit hard by the snow, and while things are starting to clear up, some people are still waiting for the roads to get better.
Gardaí, along with local council crews and the Defence Forces, have been working hard to help those who need it most. They’ve teamed up with farmers to clear roads so they can deliver food and coal to vulnerable households.
One of the heroes in this effort is Garda Liam O’Connor from Mitchelstown. He made sure that residents in Kildorrery got their medicine and supplies. A local farmer even helped him get through the last bit of impassable road.
Gardaí have been sharing photos on social media, encouraging anyone who needs help to reach out.
In Fermoy, local Gardaí are also helping out with Meals on Wheels, making sure that those in need are fed during this cold snap.
But it’s not just the Gardaí and official services stepping up. The community has really come together, with many individuals going above and beyond to help.
Take Mike O’Sullivan from Duhallow, for example. He helped a milk lorry that got stuck in the snow while trying to collect milk from a neighbor.
Mike was passing by in his tractor when the driver flagged him down. Within minutes, he had the lorry freed and spent the rest of the day clearing roads in the Kanturk area.
