A well-known Galway resident is reportedly creating distress for neighbors due to a road dispute involving blocked drainage.
Galway: A local man is really frustrated with his neighbor over a road issue that’s causing a lot of trouble. It seems this well-known guy has been blocking a soakway, which is supposed to help with flooding.
The soakway is just a hole meant to soak up excess water, but it’s been blocked by rocks, clay, and even a silage bale. This has led to some serious flooding on the access road and right outside the local man’s home.
He shared with Galway Beo that the situation is making life miserable for everyone nearby. Photos show the soakway clear one day and then completely blocked the next, leading to inches of water on the road.
Because of this blockage, the local man has had to pile up sandbags to keep the floodwaters at bay. He’s even put up cones and tape to warn drivers about the sudden flooding.
He reached out to Galway County Council, and they promised to send a crew to check it out and clear the water tables soon. He’s grateful for the council and local representatives for their hard work in managing the soakways in the area.
