Owen Blades, 27, has pleaded guilty to the murder of John Connolly in Lincoln, with sentencing set for January 9.
Lincoln: A 27-year-old guy named Owen Blades has just pleaded guilty to murder at Lincoln Crown Court. He was supposed to go to trial on January 2 for killing 69-year-old John Connolly.
But on January 3, he changed his plea during a court hearing. Blades admitted to killing Mr. Connolly in his home on Portland Street back on June 13, 2024.
Mr. Connolly’s family got worried and called the police on June 18, leading officers to find his body. It was a tough situation for everyone involved.
Interestingly, Blades had been arrested earlier that day for a different incident at Merkur Slots in Lincoln. He was already in custody when the investigation into the murder began.
After some digging, he was charged with murder on June 25, 2024. During the hearing, he also admitted to a burglary on Portland Street, having a knife in public, and stealing food from Tesco, all on the same day.
Now, he’s set to be sentenced on January 9. It’s a serious case that’s shaken the community.
