New developments hint at potential housing plans for the long-vacant site
Nottingham: Exciting news is brewing about the old soap factory site! This place has been empty for ages, but it looks like things might finally change.
The land, once home to PZ Cussons’ soap factory, has been sitting idle for over ten years. The factory was torn down, and plans for new homes fell through a while back. But guess what? The area has been cleared, and it’s been sold to a new owner!
Scotholme Works Regeneration Limited now owns the land, and they’re part of the Cilldara Group, a property development company. They’ve been busy with other projects, but we’re still waiting to hear what they plan for this site.
Local folks are hopeful. Rob, a resident, mentioned he saw some activity on the site, which is a good sign. People are eager for new homes, especially since the area isn’t exactly greenbelt land.
Jim, another local, pointed out that the cleared land looks much better than when it was overgrown. He’s right; it was a bit of a jungle before! And Wahid thinks the location is perfect for new homes, especially with the tram stop nearby.
Back in 2018, the city council thought homes might pop up between 2025 and 2027. But with no plans submitted yet, it might take a bit longer. The old factory, known as Gerard’s Soap Works, was a big deal for over a century, so it’s time to see some new life in the area!
