A dog was found frozen in a car boot after a crash in Birmingham, raising concerns about animal safety in extreme weather
Dulverton: So, there was this really sad incident in Birmingham where a dog was found left in the boot of a car overnight. Can you believe it? The poor thing was stuck there after a driver crashed into the parked car.
Firefighters found the dog early in the morning, and it was freezing cold. They got called out around 5:56 AM after the crash. The dog was locked in the boot of a dark Volkswagen Passat, and it had been there all night in sub-zero temperatures.
Aston Fire Station shared the news on Twitter, showing pictures of the damage to the car and a dog kennel inside. It’s just heartbreaking to think about how scared that dog must have been.
Luckily, the dog was rescued and taken into police care. The officers were seen gently leading the brown dog into a van using dog catcher poles. The fire station made sure to remind everyone not to leave animals in the cold.
It’s still unclear what happened to the driver or why the dog was left there. But with the freezing temperatures hitting the UK, it’s a serious reminder to keep our pets safe.
The UK Health Security Agency has even issued a cold weather alert, warning that these freezing conditions could be dangerous, especially for older folks or those with health issues. So, let’s all be careful out there!
