West Midlands Police seeks to revoke the Fox and Goose’s licence after a woman was knocked unconscious by a bouncer, raising safety concerns.
West Bromwich: A pub might lose its licence again. A woman was knocked unconscious by a bouncer at the Fox and Goose. This incident has raised serious concerns.
West Midlands Police found the woman outside the pub. Paramedics were treating her around 1:35 AM on January 11. Police are investigating wounding with intent and assault charges.
The pub staff were not helpful. They gave conflicting information when questioned. Police are reviewing CCTV footage to identify the bouncer involved.
Sandwell Council suspended the pub’s licence on January 16. A hearing is set for February 7 to decide its fate. The owners must also explain unauthorized gambling machines found on-site.
This isn’t the first time the Fox and Goose has faced trouble. Last year, the pub had its licence reviewed after a brutal assault left a man injured.
The pub’s licence was temporarily suspended but later returned with shortened hours. The owners, Tina and Gurdeep Bali, aimed to change the business focus to food.
They agreed with police to open earlier but had to close an hour earlier too. Alcohol sales were restricted during the new opening hours.
The current hours allow opening from 9 AM to 11:30 PM on weekdays and later on weekends. However, alcohol can only be served during specific times.
