Four boys have been arrested after a fire at a Tesco in Bedworth, raising concerns about safety and community impact
Bedworth: So, there was this fire at a Tesco Extra, and it got pretty serious. Four boys, aged 11 to 13, were arrested for arson. Can you believe it? The fire broke out around 5:30 PM on January 2.
Two of the boys are from Bedworth, one from Nuneaton, and the last one is from Nottingham. They were all taken in on suspicion of ‘arson endangering life’ but have been released on bail while the police keep investigating.
People in the store had to evacuate after they heard a loud bang and then smoke started filling the place. Eyewitnesses said they saw black smoke coming from near the toilets. It must have been quite a scene!
According to DI Paul Sartoris from Warwickshire Police, the damage was significant. He mentioned that there was a real risk of someone getting hurt badly. It’s scary to think about what could have happened.
He also said that when serious incidents like this occur, the police act quickly to find and arrest those responsible. It’s good to know they’re on top of things.
