Ben Tozer discusses Wrexham’s potential transfer strategy for January, emphasizing the importance of smart signings over big spending.
Wrexham: Former captain Ben Tozer has some interesting thoughts on the club’s upcoming transfer window. He recently shared his insights after watching his old team beat Wigan.
Tozer, who played a key role in Wrexham’s rise through the leagues, now plays for Forest Green Rovers. He believes the club doesn’t need to make any big splashes in January.
He mentioned that manager Phil Parkinson has been well-supported by the Hollywood owners, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney. Fans are buzzing about the possibility of a big signing, but Tozer thinks it’s more about finding the right fit.
He said, “It shouldn’t be about breaking the million-pound barrier. The gaffer will do what’s best for the team.” Tozer expects that any signings will likely come late in the window, as teams will try to leverage Wrexham’s needs.
Wrexham’s current record transfer is striker Mo Faal, but they’ve been linked with Leeds United’s Patrick Bamford, who wouldn’t come cheap. However, with players returning from injury, Tozer feels the team is in a good spot.
He concluded, “If the right player isn’t available, we’ll stick with what we have. We’ve got some solid players coming back.” Sounds like Wrexham fans should keep their expectations in check for now!
