Middlesbrough’s Linthorpe Assembly Rooms will be revamped into studio flats and a pub, following council approval.
Middlesbrough: Exciting changes are on the way for the former Linthorpe Assembly Rooms. The council has given the green light for a makeover that will turn the upper floors into studio flats and keep a pub on the ground floor.
The plan is to convert the first and second floors into ten self-contained flats while keeping six existing studio flats. The building has a rich history, previously serving as a community hub with a dance school and various commercial spaces.
Right now, the ground floor is home to a bookmakers, which will stay as is. There’s also a pub/restaurant, and the new plans include a future pub/restaurant as part of the development.
Some cool updates are coming too! They’ll be adding new windows and restoring the original arched window detail that was bricked up ages ago. Plus, they’re planning to improve pedestrian access and add more bike spaces.
Interestingly, there were 23 consultations with neighbors, but no one responded. The council has set some conditions that need to be met before work can kick off, like submitting details for secure bike parking.
So, it looks like the Linthorpe Assembly Rooms are about to get a fresh start, blending living spaces with a bit of local nightlife. Keep an eye out for more updates!
