Caplin, who served as the MP for Hove from 1997 to 2005, was taken into custody on Saturday. Footage shared online shows him in handcuffs, wearing a bright red hat and a black top, surrounded by police officers.

According to Sussex Police, they are aware of the videos circulating on social media. They confirmed that a 66-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of engaging in sexual communication with a child and remains in custody.

The police have stated that this is an ongoing investigation. The live stream of the sting operation lasted about 30 minutes and has already racked up over 36,000 views and thousands of comments.

Caplin has reportedly denied all allegations against him. It’s worth noting that he was suspended from the Labour Party last year and has consistently denied any wrongdoing.

During his time in office, he held two significant government positions, including assistant Government whip and junior defence minister. He represented Hove for nearly a decade, making this situation all the more shocking.
