Cottingham: The flytipping situation is really getting out of hand. East Riding Councillors are stepping up to find a solution.

During a recent Full Council meeting, Cllr Phil Redshaw, who represents Cottingham North, brought up the problem. He pointed out that spots like Orchard Park Road, North Moor Lane, and Middledyke Lane are particularly bad.

Cllr Redshaw asked Council leader Anne Handley to ensure that something is done about this issue. He suggested using CCTV cameras and adding more street lights to help catch those responsible for the illegal dumping.

Cllr Handley agreed that action is needed. She expressed her willingness to meet with Cllr Redshaw to brainstorm solutions. She acknowledged that the flytipping problem is indeed out of control and requires urgent attention.
