Rhos-on-Sea: It’s a real shame what happened at St Trillo’s Parish Church. The vicar, Reverend Rachel Dale, is feeling pretty let down after some flytippers decided to dump their junk right in the churchyard.

This isn’t just any churchyard; it’s the final resting place of Harold Lowe, the fifth officer of the Titanic. He’s known for going back to save survivors when the ship sank back in 1912. Pretty heroic, right?

So, you can imagine how upset the community is. The rubbish included a fan and some rubble, and it was left near the gravestones. The vicar thinks people just drove into the car park and thought it was okay to toss their trash there. It’s not the first time either; someone even left a mattress there before!

Rev Dale expressed her disappointment, saying it shows a lack of respect for those buried there and their families who come to visit. She’s usually pretty understanding, but this really got to her. She also feels bad for the volunteers who work hard to keep the churchyard nice and tidy.

It’s not like the church has a big budget to hire people for this. The volunteers, mostly older folks, do an amazing job, but they can’t do it all. After posting about the mess on Facebook, she was surprised by how many people reached out to show their support.

Comments poured in, with folks expressing their anger and disappointment. One person said it was a shame to have so little thought for others, while another called it very disrespectful. It’s clear that the community cares deeply about this place and the legacy of Harold Lowe.
