Residents in Monmouth brace for potential flooding as river levels rise, prompting warnings from Natural Resources Wales
Monmouth: So, it looks like things are getting a bit dicey in Monmouth. The River Wye is rising, and Natural Resources Wales has put out a flood warning. They’re saying properties could be at risk of flooding soon.
Right now, some low-lying areas are already seeing water creep in. The agency is keeping a close eye on the situation, and they’ve warned that more flooding is on the way. They even closed the rowing club underpass gates to keep everyone safe.
The warning from NRW is pretty clear: river levels are going up, and flooding to properties is expected. They’re monitoring things closely and will update the public as needed. Just yesterday, the river was at 4.387 meters, which is nearly double what it was just a day before.
NRW has also issued several other flood alerts across different areas, including the River Dee and parts of South Pembrokeshire. It’s a bit of a mess out there, and folks are advised to stay alert.
On top of that, there’s a yellow warning for ice in several areas, which could cause some transport issues. And if that’s not enough, it’s going to be freezing this week, with temperatures dropping below zero in some spots. Stay safe, everyone!
