Wales faces multiple flood warnings as heavy rain and melting snow disrupt travel and safety
Cardiff: So, it’s been a bit of a mess in Wales lately. Flood warnings are all over the place, and some roads are just plain closed. It all kicked off after a weekend of snow and heavy rain, which really did a number on the roads.
Right now, there are two weather warnings in effect. One’s for snow and ice in the north, while the other was for rain in the south, but that one just wrapped up this morning. It’s been a wild ride!
After the snow from Saturday night started melting, the rain came pouring down, and that’s when things got tricky. Water levels shot up, and now we’ve got a lot of roads that are either blocked or partially blocked.
As of this morning, several roads are closed, including the A458 Towyn Road and the A547 in Abergele. It’s a real headache for anyone trying to get around. The A483 in Builth Wells is also shut down because of rising river levels.
There are currently four flood warnings in place, meaning flooding is expected, and folks need to take action. Areas like the River Towy and River Wye are on high alert.
Plus, there are 34 flood alerts out there, which means flooding could happen, so everyone should stay prepared. It’s a good idea to keep an eye on the weather and avoid those flooded areas if you can.
