A South London man has been sentenced for trying to smuggle a gun and drugs from the USA using a fake name
South London: A man named McNeil Colly, 48, has been sentenced for trying to import a handgun and cocaine from the USA. He was caught using a fake name, which is pretty bold, right?
Colly, from Streatham, was tried with Keston Redhead, a 35-year-old asylum seeker from Trinidad. They were found guilty of serious charges at Kingston Crown Court.
Border Force officers discovered a Taurus pistol and magazines at Stansted Airport back in July. The gun was supposed to be sent to a rundown property in South London, but they used a made-up name for the delivery.
The package came from Florida, and investigators linked it to Colly’s home. They arrested both men when they showed up to pick up the parcel, which also contained half a kilo of cocaine.
Text messages on their phones showed they were deep into this smuggling operation, sharing photos of guns and drugs. They even found evidence of money transfers related to their illegal activities.
When police searched Colly’s flat, they found a samurai sword, a machete, and a crossbow, along with eight kilos of cannabis. Talk about a stash!
Both men received 17-year sentences. Colly had already admitted to having cannabis with the intent to supply. Redhead will be deported after serving his time.
An NCA officer said they were determined to stop the flow of dangerous weapons and drugs into the UK. It’s a big win for the community, but it’s a reminder of the ongoing battle against crime.
