The Royal Mint has unveiled the first coins of 2025, celebrating key British milestones and figures with stunning new designs.
London: The Royal Mint just dropped the first look at the coins for 2025, and they’re pretty cool! They’re honoring some big moments in British history, like the Red Arrows and Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother.
So, there’s a whole set coming out next week, featuring new designs for the 50p, £2, and £5 coins. Two of the 50p coins are all about the Red Arrows, celebrating their 60th anniversary, and also paying tribute to those who served in World War II.
Then, the £2 coins are spotlighting 200 years of the modern railway and the Royal Observatory in Greenwich, which is a big deal in the science world. The £5 coin is a lovely nod to Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother, who’s remembered fondly by many.
Rebecca Morgan from The Royal Mint said collectors are really looking forward to this set. Each coin is designed to remind us of these important moments in British history, and they’re crafted to last for generations.
These coins will be available starting January 2, with prices kicking off at £39.50. You can also get them individually throughout the year.
And here’s a fun bit: starting January 4, you can even strike your own £2 coin at the Royal Mint Experience! It features symbols representing the four nations of the UK, which is pretty neat.
