Barrow-in-Furness: So, Eleanor Williams, the woman who made up those wild stories about being raped by a grooming gang, is out of prison early. Can you believe it? She stirred up a huge mess back in 2020 when she posted some pretty shocking photos on Facebook, claiming they were from abuse. It got so out of hand that a whole campaign, “Justice for Ellie,” popped up with over 100,000 members. People were protesting, thinking the police were messing things up.

But here’s the kicker: three men she falsely accused ended up trying to take their own lives. One of them even spent 73 days behind bars for something he didn’t do. Williams was sentenced to eight-and-a-half years last March for her lies, but she just got released ahead of schedule. The Ministry of Justice confirmed it.

At just 24, she’s now on license, which means she has to follow strict rules about who she can talk to and where she can go. If she messes up, she could go back to prison. Some folks in Barrow are really upset about her early release. One local said it was “absolutely disgusting” that she barely served any time for what she did to those men.

Williams’ first false claim was when she was just 16. She had been at a friend’s house and, after a night of drinking, she said she was raped. But she later backed out of that story. Then, she made more claims about other guys, saying they attacked her. The court found out she even hurt herself to make her stories seem real.

She went as far as to say she was groomed since she was a kid and made up tales of being trafficked. The judge pointed out that her stories were just that—stories. They were so far-fetched that they sounded like something out of a movie. In one instance, she claimed she was sold at an auction in Amsterdam, but it turned out she was just on a trip with her sister.

When police looked into her claims, they found a lot of inconsistencies. For example, she said she was forced to have sex with men in Blackpool, but the evidence showed she was just hanging out in her hotel room. In May 2020, she was found with injuries that she claimed were from being beaten, but a pathologist said they were self-inflicted. It’s a wild story, and now she’s back on the streets, under watch.
