A family in Swansea found themselves trapped in their home after a massive tree fell during Storm Darragh, causing chaos and fear.
Swansea: A family had quite the scare when a huge 30-foot tree came crashing down during Storm Darragh. Jade Carver, 27, and her kids were stuck in their home in Ravenhill since Saturday evening after the tree uprooted right in their front garden around 7:30 PM.
Jade reached out to the council for help, but since they weren’t in immediate danger, they weren’t prioritized. She’s been waiting for someone to come and remove the tree, but no luck so far.
Interestingly, Jade had been worried about that tree for years. Just the night before it fell, she decided to sleep in the lounge with her kids, thinking it might be safer. Talk about a gut feeling!
When the tree finally fell, it scared the kids to bits. Jade thought the loud wind had ripped her gate off the wall, but then her son came running in, screaming that the tree had fallen. She was in a panic, trying to figure out what to do.
Jade described the tree as massive, saying pictures don’t do it justice. It’s not just lying across her garden; it’s also blocking her neighbor’s driveway. She feels completely trapped.
She called the council again, but they told her to contact highways. After another call, she was told someone might come out, but no one has shown up yet. It’s frustrating!
Storm Darragh has been causing havoc all over Wales, with winds hitting over 90 mph. Nearby, the roof of the Briton Ferry rugby club was ripped off, and thankfully, no one was hurt. Other places, like Pentre Chapel in Powys, faced similar damage.
As the winds are expected to ease overnight, Jade is just hoping for some help soon. It’s been a wild ride for her and her family!
