The family of Ross Hanratty, who died in a work accident, has won compensation after claiming safety guidelines were ignored.
Edinburgh: A family is mourning the loss of Ross Hanratty, a 28-year-old dad. He tragically fell through a roof while working just weeks into a new job. The family has now won a six-figure compensation claim.
Ross fell 30 feet while cleaning a fragile roof. He wasn’t warned about the danger and left his safety harness unattached. This accident left his young children, ages five and four, without their dad.
His family settled out of court after claiming his employer, Ipsum Drainage, ignored safety rules. Ross’s mother, Marion, expressed the pain of losing him and the long wait for answers.
Ross died in October 2022 at Seafield Industrial Estate in Edinburgh. His family’s lawyers argued that the company failed to provide proper training and risk assessments.
Ipsum Drainage admitted some responsibility but claimed Ross’s actions contributed to the accident. A Crown Office investigation into the incident is still ongoing.
