The family of Khun Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha seeks compensation for his tragic death in a helicopter crash
Leicester: The family of Khun Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, the late chairman of Leicester City, has filed a massive £2.15 billion claim against the helicopter manufacturer. This tragic incident took place back in October 2018, when the helicopter crashed shortly after taking off from the King Power Stadium.
They’re saying this is the biggest fatal accident claim in English history. The family believes that Leonardo S.p.A., the company that made the helicopter, is responsible for the crash that killed Khun Vichai and four others.
A recent report from the Air Accident Investigation Branch raised serious safety concerns about the helicopter. It pointed out that a key component in the tail rotor seized, leading to a series of failures that caused the helicopter to spin out of control.
The family’s legal team claims that the manufacturer didn’t warn anyone about the risks involved. They also mentioned that the pilot couldn’t have done anything to prevent the crash.
They’re seeking compensation for lost earnings and damages due to Khun Vichai’s untimely death. At the time, his company, King Power, was doing really well, making over £2.5 billion a year.
Khun Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha, Khun Vichai’s son, expressed how deeply the family feels the loss. He mentioned that his children will never know their grandfather, which adds to their pain.
The family is being represented by an aviation law firm, and they’re basing their claim on the findings from the AAIB report. They want to ensure that all helicopter operators can trust the safety of their machines.
An inquest into the crash is set to begin soon in Leicester, and it’s expected to shed more light on this heartbreaking incident.
