The family of Eli Sharabi hopes to inform him of his tragic loss themselves
Bristol: The family of Eli Sharabi is in a tough spot. They want to be the ones to tell him about the heartbreaking loss of his wife and daughters. Lianne, 48, and their girls, Noiya and Yahel, tragically died during the October 7 attacks in Israel.
Mr. Sharabi, who is 52, is expected to be released soon. But he likely doesn’t know about the devastating news yet. Lianne’s brother, Stephen, shared that he doesn’t want Eli to hear it from an Israeli soldier.
From Bridgend, South Wales, Stephen said, “I think the hope of reuniting with Lianne and the girls is what’s keeping him strong.” He worries that once Eli learns the truth, it could break him.
Stephen reassured Eli, saying they’ll always be there for him and will help him through this tough time, as long as he’s alive.
The October 7 attack by Hamas led to the deaths of 1,195 people and left many others taken captive. Israel responded with airstrikes and a ground invasion of Gaza, aiming to eliminate Hamas and rescue hostages.
Recently, some hostages have started to be released as part of a ceasefire agreement.
