A family is devastated after their two pet dogs were killed in a tragic road accident, leaving them heartbroken and struggling to cope
Bolton: A family is reeling from the loss of their two dogs, Fred and Penny, after a tragic accident. It all happened when the dogs dashed out of their home on Manchester Road.
On that fateful Friday, a gust of wind blew open the front door, and the dogs spotted some other pups across the street. They couldn’t resist the urge to run out.
Sadly, they were struck by a car. Penny was taken to the vet but didn’t make it. Fred passed away shortly after. Their owner, Steven Moss, is heartbroken.
He was away in Whitby when he got the news. “It felt surreal,” he said. “I had a long drive back to think about it.” The family had the doors closed, but the wind played a cruel trick.
Now, the driver involved has asked for insurance details, but Steven is more focused on the loss. He reported the incident to the police, feeling the driver should have seen the dogs.
“It was light and dry. They had plenty of time to notice them,” he explained. The whole family is struggling, especially Steven’s stepson, Dale, who is taking it particularly hard.
“He can’t even think right now,” Steven shared. “He sleeps with them, and now he feels totally alone.” It’s a tough time for them all, and they’re just trying to cope with the heartbreak.
