Councillors are poised to approve plans for holiday cabins and a restaurant at Falkirk’s Black Loch, enhancing local tourism.
Falkirk: Exciting news is brewing! Plans for holiday cabins and a restaurant by the Black Loch are on the table. The council is set to make a decision soon.
The RWD Group wants to develop this lovely spot near Limerigg. They bought the Black Loch Fishery last year, but it’s closed now. Still, folks love visiting the area for swimming, fishing, and walking.
The site is just south of the B825 road, close to where it meets the B8022. It’s right on the edge of North Lanarkshire, making it a great spot for visitors.
Currently, there’s a boathouse with storage, toilets, and a jetty for boats. The new plans include a restaurant and 12 holiday lodges, plus upgrades to the boathouse. They also want to add a play area, parking, and some landscaping.
Speaking of parking, they’re planning for 84 spaces! That’s 36 for the restaurant, 24 for the lodges, and 24 for the jetty. Sounds like they’re really thinking this through.
The council was supposed to decide back in November, but they wanted to check out the site first. That visit happened on November 25, and now they’re ready to move forward.
Planning officers are recommending approval, but they want to make sure any coal mining risks are looked into first. If they get the green light, they’ll also need to upgrade the access road before any work starts.
The planning committee will meet on January 15 at 10 am in Grangemouth. If you can’t make it, don’t worry! They’ll stream it live on YouTube.
