Falkirk Council wants to shut Blackness Primary. People strongly disagree with this plan. A meeting showed views from locals, like you and me.

Parents, kids, and teachers all said no. The report notes the community’s worries. Blackness Primary is central to the town. Kids help with food and clean beaches. Small classes mean more help for each student.

Parents fear losing the community hall. It’s used for school lunches, you know. Kids may have to travel to Grange Primary. It is a bigger school in Bo’ness. The report says Grange helps high school prep.

Education Scotland took part in the meeting. They know families oppose closing Blackness. If it closes, kids need support. Going to Grange will be a big change.

Parents stopped a closing before. They showed more kids would enroll then. Now, many local kids do not attend Blackness. This pattern probably won’t change soon. Only ten of twenty-six local kids go there.

If councilors agree, Scotland decides next. They could reverse the council’s choice. Blackness could close June 27, at summer break. Grange takes over June 30 as the school. Some kids might need to transfer schools.

The council meets Thursday, February 13, at 10 am. It happens in Grangemouth. It’s also online at the council’s YouTube.
