Exeter: There’s a bit of a situation in the city center. A gas leak has caused a road closure near Exeter Central Station. Emergency services are on the scene, and they’ve set up a cordon on Queen Street.
Some folks nearby have shared their experiences. One eyewitness mentioned seeing fire engines and other emergency vehicles. It sounds pretty serious, as the street is completely blocked off.
People inside a nearby college building are reportedly stuck inside, and some other buildings have been evacuated. It’s definitely a tense situation.
Authorities are asking everyone to steer clear of the area if they can. Devon Alert has warned that due to the incident, parts of the city center are off-limits to both traffic and pedestrians. So, if you’re in the area, expect some delays.
Train services have also been affected, with all lines near Exeter Central Station currently closed. National Rail has confirmed the gas leak is causing major disruptions.
They’ve advised passengers to talk to staff for more info or use the help points at the station. If you need to get somewhere, local buses are an option, but make sure to check if your train ticket is valid for that.
