Chelmsford: A serving Essex Police officer is in hot water over some pretty serious allegations. PC Kerrie Brown is accused of behaving inappropriately towards three women, both on and off duty. He’s denying all the claims, though.

The misconduct hearing, led by Assistant Chief Officer Fiona Henderson, revealed that PC Brown allegedly made some rather flirtatious comments. He reportedly told one woman she was “the best looking” and added it was a “shame she was married.” Yikes!

Things got even more uncomfortable when he allegedly tried to look down her top multiple times. There were also claims of sexualized comments directed at another woman. It’s not looking good for him.

PC Brown’s actions are said to have breached the Standards of Professional Behaviour, which cover respect and courtesy. The officer’s conduct is under serious scrutiny, and it’s clear that Essex Police is taking this matter seriously.

During the hearing, it was mentioned that PC Brown had acted inappropriately towards a woman, referred to as Female B, during a night out in Chelmsford back in 2022. He allegedly picked her up and grabbed her in a way that made her shout for him to stop.

Mr. Alexandros dos Santos, representing Essex Police, emphasized that the officer’s behavior was unwanted and made the women uncomfortable. Another woman, Female C, also reported that PC Brown commented on her uniform, saying it “did not do her justice.”

There’s also a third woman, Female A, who spent a night with PC Brown in 2023. He later told her he “did not regret it” and rated the experience as “ten out of ten,” which understandably made her feel uneasy.

Other allegations include him touching a woman’s chin and shoulder, and sitting way too close for comfort. It seems like he had no idea about personal space at all.

Despite all this, PC Brown is standing firm, denying the allegations and claiming that his behavior doesn’t amount to misconduct. His barrister mentioned that while he can be flirtatious, it’s often reciprocated.

The hearing is still ongoing, so we’ll have to wait and see how this all plays out.
