Denise Nurse reveals sad news about Neil’s passing on Escape to the Country
North Wales: So, you won’t believe what happened on Escape to the Country. Denise Nurse, the host, made a really emotional announcement right at the start of the show.
In the latest episode, she visited a couple, Angela and Neil, who had been on the show before. They were looking for their dream home, and Jonnie Irwin, who sadly passed away, helped them out back then.
Angela and Neil were moving from Tamworth to celebrate their silver wedding anniversary. They eventually found a lovely place, even though the first three options didn’t work out.
Fast forward five years, and Denise went back to check on them. But just before she got to their new home, she shared the heartbreaking news that Neil had died 18 months after they moved in.
Denise told everyone, “A lot can happen in five years. Angela and Neil did move to North Wales, and they fulfilled their long-held dream of living together in this beautiful part of the world. Very sadly though, Neil passed away 18 months ago.”
Angela talked about the wonderful memories she had with Neil. She said they felt right at home from the start and loved exploring the area together.
It was tough for Angela to talk about Neil’s passing. She mentioned how even simple decisions became overwhelming after he was gone. That’s when she decided to get a dog, Teddy, to help her cope.
She shared, “I waited 70 years to get a dog, never had one before, I always had cats, so it was a bit of a culture shock.”
The episode was really emotional, especially since it featured Jonnie Irwin, who died earlier this year at just 50. Viewers were quick to react on social media, sharing their sadness about Neil’s passing and remembering Jonnie fondly.
